Udio Pricing: Plans, Credits and What Each Tier Unlocks
Udio has a free tier and paid plans that unlock more generation credits and commercial rights for in-app use. Stem and audio downloads are disabled for every plan as of September 2026, following Udio's October 2025 settlement with Universal Music Group.
Udio's pricing follows a similar structure to Suno's: free tier, paid tiers, credit-based generation limits. What used to set Udio apart was stem access as a paid-tier feature. That changed in October 2025, when Udio disabled downloading of audio, video and stems for every plan as a condition of its settlement with Universal Music Group. As of September 2026, no Udio tier, free or paid, lets you download anything.
This page explains what each Udio tier actually provides now: generation credits, and commercial licensing for in-app use. For current dollar amounts, check Udio's official pricing page, rates shift with model updates and promotional cycles.
The pricing model still rewards heavier users, but what a higher tier buys you now is more generation credits and broader in-app commercial licensing, not a bigger production toolkit. If you're generating a handful of tracks a month for personal projects, the free tier or entry paid plan is enough. If you need client work, sync pitches, or a deliverable file, Udio currently can't provide that regardless of tier, use Suno instead.
Free tier: full fidelity, no commercial rights
Udio's free tier is notable because the audio quality of what you generate matches paid tiers — Udio does not downgrade output quality for free users. What free restricts is volume (limited monthly credits) and rights (personal use only). You cannot commercially monetize, license, or professionally publish free-tier Udio tracks.
This is a meaningful distinction from some competitors that also reduce output quality on free plans. With Udio free, you're evaluating the real product. What you're not getting is the right to use it professionally or at scale.
Paid plans: what each tier gates
Udio's paid tiers scale on credit volume, commercial license scope for in-app use, and priority queue access. Stem export and priority downloads used to be part of this ladder; they are not anymore, since downloads are off for every tier as of October 2025. The entry paid tier unlocks commercial rights for what you can do inside the app; higher tiers raise your monthly credit allowance and broaden that in-app commercial scope.
- Free — limited monthly credits, full audio quality, personal use only.
- Entry paid — expanded credits, commercial rights for in-app personal use (no downloads).
- Mid-tier — more credits, broader in-app commercial license. Stem export, once unlocked here, has been disabled platform-wide since Oct 2025.
- Top tier — maximum credits, broadest in-app commercial rights, priority generation.
What happened to stem access
Stems used to be the plan-defining feature on Udio: separated drum, bass, melody and vocal tracks for DAW work, available starting at a mid-tier plan. That changed on October 29 to 30, 2025, when Udio settled with Universal Music Group and disabled downloading of audio, video and stems for all users, on every plan, as a condition of the deal. A one-time 48-hour window to grab existing downloads ran November 3 to 5, 2025, and has since closed.
As of September 2026, that restriction is still in effect, and no Udio tier includes stem export. If your workflow depends on stems, generate the full mix in Suno instead (which you can download) and split it with a dedicated separator like Lalal.ai or Moises. Udio has signed licensing deals with Warner, Merlin and Kobalt since the change and says it hopes to bring back some form of download through a new licensed platform later in 2026, but no date has been confirmed.
Commercial license scope by tier
The commercial licensing tiers still exist on paper, but with downloads off since October 2025, there is no file to deliver to a client, license for broadcast, or distribute anywhere outside Udio's own player. A higher tier buys you more generation credits and broader in-app commercial use; it does not buy you a deliverable.
If your work requires client delivery, broadcast licensing, or distribution, generate it in Suno instead, where a paid plan actually gets you a downloadable file. Our Udio commercial use page has the current details on what Udio's license does and doesn't cover.

Frequently asked
Is Udio more expensive than Suno?
Udio and Suno are broadly comparable in price at equivalent tiers. Compare both current pricing pages side by side for the most accurate read, as rates change with model updates.
Can I get stems on the free Udio plan?
No, and neither can paid accounts. Stem export has been disabled for every Udio plan since October 2025, following Udio's settlement with Universal Music Group.
Does Udio have a student or creator discount?
Udio has offered promotional pricing at launch and occasionally through partnerships. Check the current pricing page for any active discounts.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my Udio plan mid-cycle?
Typically yes — upgrades take effect immediately, downgrades at the next billing cycle. Confirm the current policy in your account settings.
Are Udio generations unlimited on paid plans?
No, paid plans provide a monthly credit allowance. Udio raised those allowances after the October 2025 download change (Standard went from 1,200 to 2,400 credits a month, Pro from 4,800 to 6,000). Higher tiers give more credits, but there is still no unlimited plan as of September 2026.
