Since September 3, 2026, Suno limits downloads: the Free plan gets 7 downloads in total (personal use only), Pro gets 20 a month, and Premier gets 60 a month. Paid users can buy extra downloads, and every song stays playable and shareable in your library.
Suno announced download caps on August 10, 2026, and they took effect on September 3. The limits come out of Suno's settlement and licensing deal with Warner Music Group, signed in November 2025.
The short version: you can still create as much as your credits allow, but you can only take a set number of songs off the platform. Because you must download a song before you release, sell or license it, the cap now decides how many tracks you can actually use.
The limits by plan
These are the caps as of September 2026. Prices vary slightly by region and billing period.
- Free: 7 downloads in total, not per month. Personal use only: no streaming uploads, no selling, no commercial use.
- Pro (about $8-10 a month): 20 downloads a month.
- Premier (about $24-30 a month): 60 downloads a month, plus unlimited downloads from Suno Studio.
- Extra downloads: paid users can buy more once they hit the cap.
What did not change
Suno was clear that your library stays: "Everything you've already made will remain in your library. Every song will continue to be playable and shareable." Creating songs still runs on credits as before. The cap only applies to taking audio files off the platform.
Remixes of other people's songs remain personal, non-commercial use on every plan.
How to work within the caps
Treat downloads like a release budget, not a save button.
- Download only finished keepers. Share Suno links for drafts and feedback instead of exporting.
- Finish inside Suno first. Do extends, covers and edits before you export, so one download is the final version.
- Match the plan to your release pace. Twenty a month covers a weekly single plus client work. If you export more, Premier is cheaper than buying extras.
- Keep your prompts and lyrics in your own notes, so you can recreate a song if needed.
What is coming next
Suno says a new generation of models, built with the music industry, is on the way. It describes them as faster with higher-fidelity audio, and says all older models will be retired when they arrive. Expect the rules on downloads and commercial use to be restated at that point.
For context, Udio went much further: after its Universal Music deal it switched off downloads completely. Suno's caps are a limit, not a shutdown.
